Memory and Learning — A Toolkit That Gets Better
The Ghostwriting Skill and Its Blank Voice
Craft Ships, Voice Does Not
The ghostwriting skill and the shadow role are author-neutral in v6.2. The skill carries the craft rules — claim-first openings, exact numbers, evidence over opinion, concrete over abstract, a ban list of AI-slop phrases. The voice comes from a fingerprint your project supplies.
The skill ships with a blank voice-fingerprint template. While the file begins with <!-- @@template -->, the skill stops instead of inventing a voice and offers to build a fingerprint from the author's own writing.
A filled fingerprint lives under references/_voice/, which updates treat as project-owned and never overwrite. The fingerprint's rules override the craft defaults wherever they disagree, and the author's real samples override both.
This is the same principle as the planning gates: an unfilled template is not a real prerequisite. The toolkit would rather stop and say so than produce confident text in a made-up voice.
You ask the shadow role for a blog post, but the voice fingerprint still starts with `<!-- @@template -->`. What should happen?
